Website Hosting

Hosting provides individuals or organisations with the systems to store information, images, video, or other content accessible to users of the Web. Design Four provide shared and dedicated hosting services as well as co-location services.

Virtual Dedicated (shared) for Linux and Windows Hosting

  • Virtual dedicated hosting uses servers that offer many of the capabilities and features of dedicated servers, including admin (root) access and dedicated IP addresses, but at a lower price. With virtual dedicated hosting, servers are shared; however, accounts are effectively isolated allowing the user full control over the server space.

Dedicated Linux and Windows Hosting

  • Dedicated hosting reserves a Web server for a single customer where the customer has exclusive rights to their server's bandwidth, memory, and storage space. With a dedicated server, traffic and usage patterns of other customers do not affect performance. Because of their available bandwidth, versatility, and consistent performance, dedicated servers are used for a variety of purposes, including database management and traffic-intensive web sites.

Co-location Hosting

  • Co-location Hosting services are for those that require complete control over their server configuration. Co-location is a service in which a company will connect a server that you own to the internet. If you do not already have one, some companies offer to build a server for you. This is the key difference between dedicated servers and colocated servers. In a dedicated environment, the server itself is owned by the web hosting company, whereas in a colocated environment, the server is your own.
